It works with every major productivity system out there, without forcing you into using a particular one. Then there is a smart algorithm operating in the background and pre-sorting tasks into a workable list, without forcing me into estimating durations for every task and minutely scheduling every minute of the day like all gantt-chart, auto-leveling, calendar-based or time-boxing systems would do. It starts with acknowledging that there has to be a task hierarchy that’s easy to navigate and zoom/focus into, with potentially endless levels of depth- that’s already where most of the competition fails (except OmniFocus, although MLO even beats OmniFocus in this respect). Nothing comes close to MLO, it’s the most flexible and powerful of them all. Over the past two decades, I’ve tried many dozens of task managers on iOS, macOS, and Windows - including the Mac-only, highly ranked OmniFocus and Things, plus all these Web apps with pseudo-native clients that emphasize collaboration over actual usefulness for the individual. Nothing comes close to MLO, it’s the most flexible and powerful. Also a wealth of troubleshooting advice of course. PS - The MLO google group is awesome! The users post some really great templates and other little tweaks and add-on content. It’s possible that one would think that there’s a steep learning curve in setting yourself up in the software, but I feel like anyone who gets to that point might also sense the boundless potential before them. Using both (and the cloud sync service), MLO checked all the boxes I was looking for in a personal task manager (cross platform b/w Windows and iOS being one). Although the iOS app is great and fully functional on its own, I highly recommend pairing it with the desktop client. I am relieved to finally stop the incessant search for a platform that allows complete control of data/inputs. In this user’s opinion, this is the pinnacle of the GTD or personal task management platform. Download this app immediately and give it an honest attempt. If you are reading this review and have been binge-searching the App Store or wherever to find the perfect one (like I used to do), then your wait is over.
